I recommend you use as few and as natural of products on your new tattoo as possible.
Always wash hands before touching or washing your tattoo.

WITH REGULAR BANDAGE

When you get home, remove bandage within 1-3 hours. Gently wash with unscented soap and allow to air dry or pat dry with a paper towel. Moisturize with a light layer of your ointment of choice- Aquaphor, A&D, coconut oil, shea butter.

Over the next two days, wash and moisturize your tattoo twice daily. At day 3, switch to moisturizing with an unscented plain white lotion, or continue using coconut oil or shea butter.

Continue washing and moisturizing until the tattoo is finished peeling/flaking. Avoid scratching or picking at scabs.

Please wait 2-3 weeks to swim or soak with your new tattoo, and avoid direct sunlight. Protect with sunscreen once fully healed.

WITH SANIDERM

Leave your saniderm on for 2-3 days. It can be left on for up to a week and your tattoo may heal faster, but I’ve found extended wear can increase skin irritation from adhesive, dryness, or pulling. A few days is generally sufficient to make the first part of the healing process more comfortable.

It’s easiest to remove in the shower with warm water and mild, unscented soap. Pull back across the skin rather than away from it, and with the grain of any hair, using a little soap to ease the adhesive along. Wash gently with hands to remove any residue, allow to air dry or pat dry with a paper towel, and apply a light layer of ointment. Continue above instructions for daily washing and moisturizing.

Weeping and pooling of liquid (ink, blood, plasma) under the bandage is normal. If the bandage leaks excessively or begins falling off, remove the saniderm, wash, and proceed with normal aftercare rather than trying to keep it on or rebandaging.

Irritation, redness, itching around the perimeter of the bandage is NOT normal and may indicate an allergic reaction. If this occurs, remove the saniderm and wash with soap and water, and resume normal aftercare.
